Torment: Tides of Numenera

Torment: Tides of Numenera is an upcoming game that was successfully crowd-funded through Kickstarter in the first six hours of the project’s launch on March 6, 2013. It is currently in development by inXile Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux. Its spiritual successor is said to be the successful 1999 game, Planescape: Torment.

The role-playing video game is set in Numenera and it will use the Unity game engine. You will take on the role of the Last Castoff, a human that was once hosted a powerful being, but was suddenly abandoned without memory of previous events. The game features a large emphasis on storytelling which will render a rich and personal narrative, complex interaction between the characters and it will deliver a animated film-like story.

You can customize your character in matter of gender and class. The classes in their turn can be customized with a number of descriptions such as “Mystical”, ‘Tough” and so on. You character’s skills and personality can be developed as a consequence to their interactions with the in-game world. Regarding the combat, the so called “foci” will allow your character to excel in a certain combat movements or role.

As seen in the trailer, the game looks awesome: a fantastic environment with mystical characters, a stunning soundtrack and gorgeous visuals. the game has them all. I am pretty sure the 74,405 backers who pledged it on Kickstarter won’t be disappointed.
