The Best Movies of 2001

2001 was a rich year in matter of movies that included almost all the genres from animated films and great adventures to biographical drama, romantic comedies, horror movies and others. The list below comes in chronological following the movies’ release dates.

1. Shrek

Shrek is one of my favourite computer-animated films and will always be. We are familiar to the DreamWorks Pictures’ films and they don’t disappoint us this time. I don’t have enough numbers to count how many times I’ve watched Shrek. I love how it combines an emotional story with comedy and themes such as love, justice, and family. The film features the voices of famous actors such as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. It’s a must see by both children and adults.

2. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

2001 is the year when the The Lord of the Rings series came to life. The much loved films enjoyed a colossal financial and critical success. Against an insignificant budget of $281 million in comparison with the gross, the first movie in the series earned $2.917 billion. As we already know, the film stars Elijah Wood,Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Bernard Hill, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom and many others.

A Beautiful Mind is inspired by the bestselling and Pulitzer Prize- nominated eponymous book by Sylvia Nasar. The 2001 American biographical drama film tells the life story of John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics. The film was directed by Ron Howard, with a screenplay written by Akiva Goldsman and distributed by Universal Picture.
