The 33 Looks Like A Must Watch

I have just seen the trailer of The 33 (Los 33 in Spanish) and it looks like a both heart-breaking and hope-giving film. There are plenty of statistics referring to the chances of survival of man without water, food and light. The real events of 2010 on which the drama movie is based on will contest all of them. When a group of 33 miners are trapped underground after the gold and copper mine where they were working collapses, 69 days has to pass until the special forces make their way to them. Will they find them alive? If so, how many of the 33 miners will be alive? These are two questions I’m eager to find their answers as soon as the movie will be released in theaters on 13 November, 2015.

The crew is mostly formed of Spanish speaking people, fact that you can notice while watching the trailer. It stars Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Mario Casas, Juan Pablo Raba, Adriana Barraza, Kate del Castillo, Cote de Pablo among others. As mentioned earlier, Los 33 is based on the real events of the 2010 mining disaster in the mountain San José Mine in Chile and is directed by Patricia Riggen, with a screenplay by Mikko Alanne, Craig Borten and Michael Thomas, based on Hector Tobar’s book titled “Deep Down Dark”.
