Lie To Me… If You Can

Lie To Me is an American TV series that will make you feel like a detective from the first episode you watch. The Lightman Group is specialized on uncovering the truth through applied psychology. Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is the owner of the company and helped by his colleges Dr. Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams), Eli Loker (Brendan Hines) and Ria Torres (Monica Raymund), they interpret microexpressions through Facial Action Coding System and body language. They work with the local and federal law enforcement when their help is required for identifying criminals.

Who needs a lie detector machine when you have it in person? Paul Ekman is the foremost expert on facial expressions. His books are the sources of inspiration for Lie To Me and he acted as a scientific consultant in the production of the series. I would recommend that you read some of his books before you start watching the series and you will automatically notice the facial expressions of the cast and their meaning before they get to explain them. ‘Telling Lies’, ‘Emotions Revealed’, ‘Face of Man’ and any of the 15 books of Paul Ekman will make you see how similar people react to emotions and believe me, you will become a gestures and facial emotions hunter.
