Holocaust Movies Based on Books

Schindler's List

The following list includes movies that I’ve watched after reading the eponymous books and that I highly recommend. As a person interested in everything related to the WWII and Holocaust, either it is based on real life stories or fictional, I am always open to suggestions. In this regard, I invite you to share with us the movies and books that particularly impressed you.

1. Schindler’s List
The most impressive story about Holocaust, the one that makes you believe that there is hope in humanity. It’s a must see movie, that’s why I won’t say anything about its plot. Watch it, cry a lot, recommend it to your friends and cry again with them.

2. The Pianist
Music means life, music can escape your life from imminent death. The movie proves it again. The Pianist tells the story of a famous jewish pianist who overcomes his human condition in a fight for survival.

3. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
The Holocaust seen through the eyes of two innocent kids is way to painful too comprehend. Bunno, an eight-year-old, is the son of the concentration camp’s commandant befriends a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence. The consequences are startling and unexpected.

4. Sarah’s Key
This is the most emotional book that I have ever read. Having fresh in mind its story, when I watched the movie, every scene was as I imagined it. The painful, heart-breaking story will haunt your mind for longer that you’ll expect.
